Daniel 2:18-23

New International Version

¹⁸He urged them to plead for mercy^(A) from the God of heaven^(B) concerning this mystery,^(C) so that he and his friends might not be executed with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. ¹⁹During the night the mystery^(D) was revealed to Daniel in a vision.^(E) Then Daniel praised the God of heaven^(F) ²⁰and said:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever;^(G)
    wisdom and power^(H) are his.
²¹He changes times and seasons;^(I)
    he deposes^(J) kings and raises up others.^(K)
He gives wisdom^(L) to the wise
    and knowledge to the discerning.^(M)
²²He reveals deep and hidden things;^(N)
    he knows what lies in darkness,^(O)
    and light^(P) dwells with him.
²³I thank and praise you, God of my ancestors:^(Q)
    You have given me wisdom^(R) and power,
you have made known to me what we asked of you,
    you have made known to us the dream of the king.^(S)”

²⁷and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers^(A) crowded around them.^(B) They saw that the fire^(C) had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
